A few years ago I got a marble topped vanity. I had never had marble before and didn't know it was a pain to take care of. FYI This is not cultured marble. Around the faucets the finish is pitted and coming off in spots. I have tried to check the internet to see how to re surface it but I can't seem to find anything for real marble. I keep getting hits for companies to come and re surface it for me.
If I take the faucets off does anyone know what I can do to fix the finish?
I am thinking that the entire finish needs to come off first but then what do I use to polish it back like new.
Any ideas? Has anyone out there done this before. BTW there are no stains involved and it is light in color.
Thanks Alice

thanks, But not so much. I am past the care and cleaning part of this vanity. I need the strip and repolish part. Thanks anyway

The local marble/stone people hare cut and polish marble in place when it is installed. You might locate one of them in the yellow pages and see if they can help. I've seen it done and they use special tools for the job.
