I just made my first Big Ben out of wood (Kingwood). I assembled everything, but there seems to be a rattle in the pen. I can isolate it to the ink cartridge and the spring. Is this normal?

Take the spring in cartridge out, see what happens.

No more rattle when I do that. I just replaced the cartridge and spring from a satin Big Ben kit i had and it doesn't rattle. It seems like a different cartridge and spring. The nice Black Titanium one has this cheap piece of junk cartridge and ink and the less expensive satin finish kit has longer spring and better cartidge. The cartridge on the satin finish says:
DAYACOM
Tungston Carbide Ball/Swiss
Refill Ink/West Germany
The other cartride doesn't say anything.

Your satin nickel came from CSU.

What is CSU? Both are Penn State Big Bens on is Titanium Black the other Satin.
