After recently posting about my RAK fun, I have been asked to assist someone in RAK-ing some people.

For those of you who do not yet know, "RAK" is an acronym for Random Act of Kindness.

My "Friend" asked me to find a few candidates for a small flat rate box of blanks each. In todays economy, and the ever growing hobby/ business of penmaking, this is not a hard task. In fact, I quickly realized that there are alot of people out there that could use a box of blanks.

In a reply to my quest for people to RAK, Another friend PM'd me with a thought.... Why not set something like this up on a more full time basis.

I know we have the trades and give-aways section of the site, and it works great. I found RAK victims in no time.... BUT what about those people that would rather give secretly?

This current situation is the prime example...

What started out as three or maybe four boxes of blanks from one person, has turned into SEVEN boxes from three people, and that is with ZERO EFFORT. I know most of us suffer from blankeious collectious, the rare disease that seems to be onset by penious turneious. So why not thin down the overflowing collection of pen blanks, and help someone practice their skills on blanks they don't have to worry about ruining because they were FREE!

Now to the point of this thread...

One of my RAK friends suggested that I be the "hub" for the anonymous RAK boxes. I would be fine with that.... But my only problem is paying for shpping.

SO, What if the RAK-er just sent the box directly to the RAK-ee? There would be a return address on the box, but no return name, and the RAK-ee would have to promise not to try to figure out who sent the box, or otherwise break the anonymity (sp) of the RAK-er??!!

I would be willing to volunteer to be the "middle man" and hook up the "er" with the "ee", allthough it might be more productive if someone else spearheaded the campaign....

Anyway.. Just a thought. If it is stupid just tell me to shut up.

Thanks,

Ron

Yeah, it seems alot of people could benefit from a free box of blanks. I have been busy with PM's getting addresses to the right people.

I got pretty close. There were only two people that asked for blanks that didn't get any, but at least i tried.

I won't name any names, but i do want to publicly thank the people that contributed. There were two other people that ended up donating blanks after i recieved my first request to help find recipients.

I still think this would be a fairly unique idea, but like i mentioned earlier, I think it was dead before it ever got started when my name was attached, and for that reason, I will not be following up on it. Anyone that would like to take the ball is more than welcome to, but i have more pressing engagements.

Thanks again!!

Ron
