Improvising on a stocking stuffer.... Bought an inexpensive flashlight from Menards - the bulb end and the switch end both unscrew leaving a hollow center aluminum tube. It was just a hair proud of whatever forstner bit was close, so I turned down the aluminum a bit (it actually had more to give than I would have thought). Then I glued the blank "pen style" on the center tube and turned it between centers, with just a friction fit of the dead and live center inside the center tube. That was plenty of grip - it turned easily. Sanded a flat spot when I was done so it'll sit on a table or in a drawer without rolling around.
Not exactly practical, but it's strangely addictive to hold. Something about that egg shape that feels good in your hand.
