I have been involved with my own businesses for quite some time and use Quickbooks as my accounting package, so once I started making pens and bottle stoppers, I have setup everything in Quickbooks Premier (Wholesale and Manufacturing).

This allows me to keep a track on my pen kits and blanks inventory and of course, the money!!

Took a while to figure out the inventory side, so if anyone needs assistance doing the same, please feel free to ask.

Hello,

Curious how you set up your inventory in QB. I am trying to get mine organized and am hitting a brick wall. I currently use My Stuff, an apple app to keep track of finished items. Works great but I need to consolidate this and keep track of materials in a better fashion. Each item I make has an item number and I am not certain where I should put that in QB. Obviously I may have four pens made out of cocobolo, but each is unique so each has a number that is unique as well.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Cindylee

Steve- I recently upgraded from Pro to Premier for just that reason but have yet to install it. I may take you up on the offer, thanks!

I am looking to buy QuickBooks to set up my business. Like you guys, I want to be able to set up and track my supplies and finished product inventory. I am hovering between the PRO and PREMIER versions. From reading these posts, it appears that PRO does not track inventory. However, on the intuit site, under the feature comparison for 2014, it says that both versions track inventory.

Can anyone clarify this for me? I have to move fairly quickly, because Staples currently has the PRO version on sale. I don't want to buy and then have to rebuy because it doesn't full fill my needs.

Thanks

I'm running QB Pro ('97 version written for Win98) and use the inventory aspect. A couple of little bugs using it with Win8.1, but  in general it works great, helps me keep track of taxes.

what about mac users will it still work?

Good question. I use Quicken Deluxe on an old Gateway running on Windows XP. I also have a Mac where I keep my pen pics and pen spreadsheet. Very cumbersome. I'd love to find a home finance software package for Mac that would let me import my .qdf file from my Gateway.

With Windows no longer supporting XP, it is time to phase that computer out altogether.

I have QB pro 2012 but am not an accountant or even close - so I haven't even set it up yet. If somebody has templates, tutorials etc etc I would be very interested!
