I have read through the discussions on this jaw set but cannot find where anyone indicated what the max OD is on a round blank.
Nova website just says over 3/4".
Can anyone who has a set check to see what the max OD is?
I turn all of my blanks round before drilling so the capacity on square blanks is of no use to me.

Thanks all.

Ed; what brand do you use?
I have something similar to these and my concern lately is that they may be flexing a little and not allowing me to get a good drill center. There are times when the variation of the wood hardness seems to allow one tang to flex and another not.
The ones on the W836 lathe chuck look ideal but I don't know if I can order them.

I have a G2 and a G3 nova chuck. Jaws I have the 1", 2", 4" and cole jaws.

This is the 1" jaws and this is a 3/4" round Bethlehem Olivewood rod in the image.

I also drill, flatten and round using the chuck.

I have my pen plus jaws mounted on a Super Nova 2 chuck and it looks like they will take a rod just under 1 1/2" in diameter. The pictures are with a 1" diameter rod.

Thanks Ed. I think a G3 is in my future as I want to also get a reversible lathe soon and I'll need the one with the set screw.
Also, now that Dick was kind enough to post really good pictures of the pen plus jaws, I'm not sure those would be the best idea for round stock.
I think you are correct Ed and those would be better suited for square corner stuff. They would leave indentations on the larger sizes I would think.

No problem with indentations except possibly on very soft wood. Shouldn't be a problem anyway as you are going to turn and sand after drilling.
I have the full set of jaws for my Nova chucks and without a doubt the pen plus jaws give far better support for drilling.

If you get a G3, do yourself a favor and grab a set of Soft Jaws.
They're nylon jaws that fit the Nova chucks and you use your chisel to
cut them however you want. I never cut mine, but use them for drilling.
They're soft enough to hold the blank without marring, and sturdy enough
to stand a square blank in between the jaws while I drill.
I think they were around $16 or so, but that was a few years ago.
