Hey there. I recently bought some pen kits off a gentleman from offerup. In the mix were 2 big shells and some ivory. Do people use whole shells to break apart and make blanks? I have never made a blank, so not sure exactly what to do with these
Thanks for your insight

I've found it's easier to turn if you glue the shells to the tube and clear cast them. If the shells are packed in the resin to be drilled and turned, it can be challenging and hard on the tools. Plus it leaves the final appearance to chance. You know what you get if you cover a tube and clear cast.
