Has any one made these? Think it would be cool to go to a customers house with my HVAC company. Then say "Can you please sign this invoice", while I am flicking my wrist to extend the ink..

I have one from a pen swap - it's a really cool concept

drawbacks - the overall pen length is too short to write with comfortably

it's a bit on the fat side, but I think there's some extra meat in the material (like the Concava) - so there may be some room for creative designs

no pen clip! it tends to fall down and lay flat in a shirt pocket when I carry it.

I made one. Not too impressed.

But I made a blue one, and it's great for my daughter that loves all that is blue. Good for small hands I guess.

I made one, but won't likely ever make another.

As Shawn said, it is a short fat pen, not entirely uncomfortable to write with, but VERY impractical to carry around. The lack of a clip would generally make it a pain to carry, being short and fat adds to that, and the fact that any quick movement in the right direction will cause the refill to extend makes putting it in your pocket a risky endeavor. On top of that, it doesn't take either Cross or Parker Refills. I haven't looked into the actual refill to see if it is any sort of a standard, but for ballpoints, we have those 2 that cover nearly every other ballpoint (my only other experience is the mini-cross used in the teacher's pen and a few other of the very short ballpoints, but it still uses the cross transmission...)

Then there is the $20 price tag. There are a lot of pens that look nicer, have better platings (the colors do nothing for me...), carry easier, and use better, more readily available refills at that price. IMO it's a novelty for us pen geeks to have just to show it can be done.

I made a couple and I really like them for pocket pens. I'm trying to figure out how to disassemble one so I can try a different blank. I haven't figured out how to remove the ink cartridge and I wonder if it is a permanent deal. The price is expensive ($20) but it is unique.

Followup. I transferred the components to another blank but the ink cartridge mechanism no longer works. The mechanism didn't like being tapped out of the blank.

The concept is interesting, however, it takes a mini refill and if it can't be changed it is useless. It is also way over priced. There are many other pen kits that are much better and more modestly priced. Woodcraft has come out with a bunch of new kits but I don't think this one is a good choice IMO.
