I am doing a show in December. I was going to make up a couple breast cancer pens with decals/labels and donating a portion of each pen sells to the Susan Koman foundation. What do you think about making pens for the others also (autisum, colon cancer, etc)?

Great idea Mike & very commendable but sadly if you make pens for every deserving charity out there you'll not have time to do anything else. Perhaps pick two or three charities each year? My partner does something similar with her crafts & donates all profits.
Hope that helps

I understand that. But if I make one of each color; some colors have several different meanings. Then the customer can choose the one that best represent the cause that means to them (i.e. Blue=colon cancer, child abuse awareness, TB, etc).

Couple of the more recent threads.

As been said before the national groups operations have very rigid guidelines on who and how much they get for adding of their logo's to products. The local chapters not as much.
Again do it because you want to not with the advertising angle as that doesn't work out for most companies.

Give the total amount to the group as the partial amount can open you to legal challenges. Also watch the type of signage you have about the groups as some are very touchy about being used for profit!
As been said sell the item and give the money top the group with out the fan fare, because you want to.

Very commendable - but I personally would donate to the charity that is close to your heart. Ten precent of all my pen sales are donated to prostate cancer research.

I have done those in the past. Just use a generic ribbon. Do not use the Susan Koman foundation ribbon. They have a copyright on it. I talked is he foundation and to use it minimum donation that a company has to give is $100k. Just make sure you check to be sure the image you are using is public domain.
