Seriously though, why not just added a suspension of QD to your casting resin? I have no idea how much you would have to add to get a flourescent blank, you would need to incorporate a UV source in your pen somehow (assuming you are making a pen), and given the cost I would expect a QD pen to be serious bucks (hundreds or thousands just for the QD). Oh, and then there's the issue of heavy metal toxicity, so you'd need to be extra careful in handling....

I have been noticing that there are a lot of new quantum dot companies since dot TVs came about. And quantum dots can be purchased as both a powder or solution (usually in hexane). They a great fluorescent color with UV or blue light. This is why I was asking, they seem interesting to use for this application.

Yeah the cadmium based ones are like that.

I have a couple papers on carbon based and zinc based ones. But not sure it is worth making for casting. The carbon ones can be made by heating citric acid to 250 C for 30 or until it turns orange.
