Just wondering if anyone has disassembled this kit. All went well until assembly .

I actually was making this for... me, so no harm for a gift, etc... And, I can use as a desk (not really a carry) pen. But... we all know the flaws in our work, and this is like the "Grand Canyon."

I can only assume that I had some glue in the tubes and it will not press in further (I'm being gracious as I doubt this!). But, I made one the previous day, no problems, so I have no other explanation other than "user error."

So... I'm skeptical that this mechanism takes well to being pounded out! I have a full set of Harbor Freight Punches, so that is fine. I just suspect it will be trash after I (if I can) disassemble it. I'm inclined to live with it, but thought I'd ask.

And... It was pressed in straight; and went in no further with 23,000 lbs of pressure...

What a great looking pen style! I'm looking to make a few of these soon as well. If you think it's a defective part have you considered mailing it back to PSI for failure analysis? If it's truly a defect in mfg. etc. I'm sure they would be eager to have it back to help solve a problem before it gets out of hand. My hope is that it is a rare problem that's unlikely to happen again.

You might check with PSI. They walked me through disassembling a different type of pen, but it worked, and they sent me the part that could have been damaged ( it wasn't). They seem to be helpful people there. IMHO Dennis

I don't have any experience with the Steampunk variety, but I have disassembled the Bolt Action variety a few times. I speculate there isn't much difference. These posts were helpful to me:

Bolt Action Disassembly

I loosen the set screw and remove the bolt lever first, and make sure the bolt is fully retracted before tapping out the upper.

Mark I disassembled two of them last weekend without any trouble using the Harbor Freight punch set. I did not hit it hard just lightly. Everything is fine with them now. Hope that helps

Finally had time to finish this.

THANK YOU FOR THE COMMENTS - SURGERY WAS SUCCESSFUL!!!
I was able to take it all apart. The "Washer" (not sure if this is the correct name) was not factory installed flush with the shoulder, (so I used an installation tube from some misc kit I can't remember). It worked fine! The "Washer" did finally set flush with the shoulder. Reassembly fine, nothing damaged.

Pictures are for future folks!
