It's really hard to get the little arm to square up and even more difficult to keep it aligned. I spent quite a bit of time readjusting this critter.
 
From a design stand point it doesn't look like it would be all that great either you would have to have a set of bushings to fit all the different tube diameters, and the pin would have to be the same diameter as the smallest tube (7mm) so it wouldn't be that strong.

one catch and it would bend, or get knocked out of square.

My thoughts.

Just to be different. I have had one for over two years and use it ALL the time! :smile: I don't try to align the jig, I align my miter gauge and table with the sander. Very quick and easy. Yes, I make sleeves for all my pen styles using corian or delren, again quick and easy. I have tried other methods to square ends, and for me, this is the quickest and most accurate.

I use mine all of the time also, but I also agree that it can be a pain in the butt to use. I clamp it to the miter gauge and I move the blank in and out. I shake to much to use my blank trimmers anymore.
 
Got one, use it all the time. Quick setup using an accurate square verifies table and slot parallel and square to disc. I too have made a set of sleeves to fit various size tubes and have had excellent results. the item is well made for the price, I'm pleased with it.

I use it on many of my blanks. Never had any problems, clamped it to my miter gauge and checked for square. The post is 7mm but not weak. I have either steel sleeves that I use for the end mill or ones I made. Cant say I'd swear by it, but it has never let me down and is very easy to use.
