I was looking at the 3 piece set of carbide tipped chisels. In reading the reviews it say you need to hone them to keep them sharp and to use a grinder. Has anyone use these chisels and if you have what kind of honing tools would I need to have and who carriers them. Thanks for the help.

I use these and they work well. You DON'T really need a grinder to keep them sharp.
I use a diamond credit card and a diamond file set to dress them, followed by a strop.

That gets them sharp enough to literally split a hair. Plenty sharp enough for me. I use the skew for "design" work and new out of the box, it's TOO sharp for that. So when I get a new one, I turn a black with gold web tru-stone to take off a little of the edge.

85-90 percent of my work is done with a R2 radius CT insert, BUT this PSI ct tool is the perfect tool for getting into tight spaces.

Oh, and PSI carries an inexpensive diamond file set that is set perfectly for the gouge and the flat diamond file in the set does a nice job of edging the skew and parting knife.

I think all wood supply houses carry the diamond "credit card" files and I'd guess mine came from PSI or CSUSA.

I hope this helps!

Thanks Andy for your helpful reply. I've never done any honing unless you count using a steel on my butcher knife. Do you know if there are any videos on how to hone these chisels. I did a quick check but didn't fine anything.
