Order the ER32 collets but be careful and check all 800watt's listings because he has different prices and shipping charges for the same exact kits. I don't know who put them up for him but if you look around, you can get a little better deal from him.....

I agree that he doesn't communicate but I received mine quickly and over the weekend shipping.

Recommend buying from him!!

I only use the basic set, if I need an odd size, I cut a piece of 3/4" dowel and drill it to the size I need. Then I cut slits in the dowel like they are in the collets. My only problem are the the sizes close to 3/4", and that has only happened once, I made that one out if Delrin. Delrin isn't very good for making collets, but will work if you take your time. Saved enough for another tool.

Ive purchased from this person on ebay and they are 9.50 per collet and free shipping if you buy one or a hundred.

Thanks for posting that link! I hate grabbing a pre-turned 3/4" blank or metal rod to stick in my chuck to drill only to learn it's actually .758" and won't fit into the 3/4" collet, not to mention the ebonite rods which are metric and a bit fatter than 3/4" as well. I have been searching from time to time, for er-32 collets larger than 3/4" for that very reason.

The 25/32" and 13/16" collets are just the ticket!

I agree! For some reason I was under the belief that the ER32 only went to 3/4". I see a few I will have/need to get to fill out the imperial set.
So was I! Actually, several sites having "collet charts" only showed the er-32 collets going to .750"

I can't wait........... several of my ebonite rods are 20mm and should fit snugly in the 13/16"!

Unless money is extremely tight, you are probably better off to buy a set from 800watt. Price pre collet is about $4 or a few pennies more. You can't hardly make your own for that price if you value your time at all.

BTW, it is best to buy a metric set rather than an Imperial set. If you look at the sizes available in the Imperial set and the 1 mm grip range, there are a couple of gaps in the grip range in the Imperial set. It's probably not a big deal and only a rare occurance when there would be a problem; but the price difference between the two sets is not enough to really worry about.

How do you know which is a ER32 or an ER16??? I just bought a Beall from on here and the body has no numbers on it and I would like to order more..

Collet types mainly vary by diameter and length which dictate the type of clamping housings to use. You can dig up sizing charts all over the web that give the physical dimensions of the different types of collets but for your purposes, the easy answer would be that the Beall collet holder uses er-32 collets as does the PSI collet chuck.

Randy posted this same note some time ago and it really helped me. The metric from 800watt covers the range a bit better than the Imperial set.

And the good news is that you can mix and match the metric and imperial collets and the chuck does not care.

Tony -- thanks for that pointer - the size table is one of the better ones I have seen with the size ranges for both metric and imperial combined.

Thanks George, that helps me now.
