I've signed on to volunteer with a local building materials recycling non-profit. In addition to reuse of materials, they also have a woodworking shop. The shop's primary mission is to provide skills training in woodworking.
My mission is to introduce projects that: 1) can be built in a production type process, 2) made from recycled materials, 3) can be sold at craft shops, craft fairs, and at their in-house store and 4) provide opportunities to train and build skills for the trainees and volunteers.
Things they currently make include cutting boards, a tripod lamp with round veneer shades, cribbage boards, things like that. No lathes, but just about everything else.
Anyone have any ideas on things that meet these criteria? Oh, I should mention, their recycled materials include a pretty good supply of domestic hardwoods from a local furniture factory.
Any and all ideas welcome.
Thanks!
