If a total newbie to casting were to ask where he could find out how to cast and what tools and equipment would be needed, where would he look?

As I read it seems that the methods are widely varied but I'd like to find one method that's simple and try it sometime.

Thanks for your responses...

There are several articles in our library here in the IAP about casting. Here is a link most of them: http://www.penturners.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=13520

Scroll dowm and read the one on "Casting Polyester Resin" first, then read the other two. Another one by Jay Pickens and one by Anthony Turchetta.

If you want to embedd snake skins, then look at the article on the homepage entitled "Snake Skin Blanks".

There is no info (that I have found) on the net about casting pen blanks, except these here on the IAP, in the arvhives of the Y! Pen Turners group, in the archives of the Y! penMakersGuild group, in the archives of the PenMakersGuild website (http://www.penmakersguild.com), and in the archives of The Pen Shop at http://www.thepenshop.net. Many of the same articles are duplicated on all of the penturning forums, but there may be one or two that will be on only one of these forums.

There is lots of info on casting polyester resin and other resins and the info is pertinent to casting pen blanks.

We have a casting forum here on the IAP also.

Do a good turn daily!

Go to http://www.penmakersguild.com and click on articles. They are all there. Happy reading.
