I just completed a Woodcraft Wall Street II Grip pen. The problem is the cap/clip assembly doesn't "grab" the top of the twist mechanism. In the first photo, it has just barely started grabbing. If I push it all the way in, it will work, but it pulls apart way too easily. Has anybody run into this before? Is there a fix? I know it's not the twist mechanism, because I just completed a Wall Street II (not grip version), and both mechanisms work in it just fine. I believe these are Berea kits.

I think you found the problem, John. The mechanisms are different lengths, and neither barrel will work properly with the Grip mechanism. I happen to have a Berea Sierra Grip, so I compared them. Same mechanism, but the barrel on the Sierra is much shorter. The Sierra barrel works fine on both mechanisms. So I'll disassemble the Wall Street, and see if I can trim and re-turn it.

What's weird is, Woodcraft's instructions for the Grip version says it requires a 2-3/16" blank, and the Elegant requires a 2-3/8" blank. But the tubes in both kits I bought today are the same length. I wonder if the Grip kit had the wrong tube in it.

Thanks Jim, for taking the time to investigate the problem & share it with everyone.
