Problem Bleeding

I have been working on a segment pen design using Ebony and Holly. So far I have had a problem when sanding, the Ebony bleeds into the Holly and turns it brown. I have searched the archives but with no luck. Does anyone have a trick to share with me on sanding a darker and lighter wood together to prevent the bleed?

Use skew to get a super smooth finish to minimize sanding, then apply thin CA (or sanding sealer) before each grit.

Wear bandaids[] JK. I would seal the grain before sanding
