I don't want to leave the forum high-and-dry, so I'm trying to sneak in some phonecalls and emails to find some sponsors for the bash when I come in to warm up from working outside.

I'll post the prizes here as they come, and caution that it won't be as great an effort as I've been able to contribute in years past...but I'll get the ball rolling and do my best with the meagre time I have available!

For the Donation Drawing and/or Contest Managers: pictures of the 'big' prizes

20 Roman Harvest pen kits (10 RB and 10FP), 10 sets of bushings and 20 sets of brass tubes.
20 Spring Blossom Rollerball kits, 5 sets of bushing and 20 sets of brass tubes

David's response re: Prize dividing (for Ed and the Prize Allocation committee) I imagine Jeff would like some of these for the drawing? Perhaps even 5 or 10 of each?

David's reply:
--------------------------------
Just let me know what you would prefer. I am not too fussed.

If you bundle them up to 2 big winners, then I can send them straight from Australia to anywhere in the world using TNT. If you break them up into 15 smaller sets, 2 options - I can send them from Australia using USPS/postal system - very slow, or someone can send them from the US and it would be much quicker.

I read somewhere that prize giving is best broken down into lots of small prizes rather than one large prizes, that way more people can feel special and general happiness of the contestant are is much higher.

Either way

Andrew,
I won't start a list until early January (not all that long, as I think about it). But, if you continue to build in this thread (as you did last year)---it was VERY HANDY for a couple of OMG moments!!!

This thread is one of the few keys to bash success!

For the donation drawing, I'd like to keep prize value over $100 if that's possible.

Dawn, I've been rather busy, so I've only focused on these vendors to begin...

Let's brainstorm a list of additional vendors to contact.

Griffin Exotics, PMO, Glimmerz, Crown tools, Lazerlines, Wood Safari,

Premium classified advertisers? - turkish pen blanks, little river crafts/sylvanite, etc.?

I'd be happy to donate some blanks towards the bash! Either a preset box or a certificate for a box of custom colored blanks of their choosing. That'd be 20 blanks total.

Status report 1/10-2012:

As is always the case, Andrew is doing unbelievably WELL!!!

We have twelve prizes suitable for the Donation Drawing. We have a total of no less than 62 prizes!!!!

We could break that up differently and have more. So, Jeff the donation Drawing will be stocked (all over $100, but trying to keep active members represented in the DD, as much as possible).

FANTASTIC work by ANDREW AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm intrigued to see the approximate value of hte prizes when it's all said and done..seems like a good year.

WE don't really have ANY member donations yet - I might need some cheerleaders for that soon (Ed, you're pretty good at that, if I recall!) :)

Andrew, let me change what I previously donated. Go ahead and put me in for 2 boxes of blanks. That'd be 20 in each box worth well over $100 each. I can get you some pictures before the bash starts if I can get my camera to work! After that if you still need a prize I'm perfectly happy donating 10 custom color blanks of the winner's choosing.

Andrew,

I talked to Seamus7227 today and mentioned the bash. He will donate to it. He is working on a few ideas, but put him down for donating a Custom handmade blank. I'll find out if it is a TruQuarter blank or something else in the next few days.

We have 107 prizes plus a commitment for $2000 that is, as yet undefined in its scope.

THINGS ARE LOOKING VERY BRIGHT!!!!!

ANDREW IS DOING A MARVELOUS JOB, as always.

We went into the bash last year with just about the same amount of prizes we HAVE now---EIGHTEEN DAYS ahead of schedule----FABULOUS!!!!!

Thanks, Ed - considering that I'm doing this in just my spare moments, I'm pretty happy with the results thus far - mind you, my wife is getting upset with all of the time I;m spending on this - but it's almost over for hte year!

Andrew

lol...sorry Ed! I wasn't paying attention to the growing list on the first page!

I see that Hans followed through with his donation of my earliest blanks. One of them is the only remaining FIRST blank I ever made! Part of me hopes I win it back!
