Can Anyone recommend a program (not photoshop) to resize and print labels for pen blanks. Looking for a free software program id possible.

I edit my pics in Adobe which is a paid program but… I resize and print from MS Word which often comes free with some computers.

I am new to it but just downloaded Inkscape and it is free but a learning curve to use. I want to use to design some projects. But I will need time to jump into that.But it has ability to size labels.

Yes, I think they give you free (time limited) access to their templates when you buy from them.

I have Gimp, however having problems when I change the dpi then actual measurement of the tube cant for some reason to get a good image and keeping it to stay with the actual tube size.

Resolution was always an issue with free programs. They automatically save them at a lower number like 72 dpi. I bought Adobe so I could manually change and increase it to whatever I wanted.
Changing the width and length of the image is somewhat easy in Word as long as the image isn't skewed or stretched too much in either direction to mess it up. You will have to double click the image and them open the drop box where the size is five and unclick the boxes that keeps it to scale so you can change the width without it automatically changing the length. I like actual photos for this so I can crop the image to size and scale and not stretch it.
It's all a learning curve and can be a bit frustrating. I've had Adobe for several years and I'm still learning it.

I use Procreate on the iPad. It's like $10 but well worth it for the ease of use.

I use a whole bunch of photo editing tools, but I do use MS Publisher (2013) to paste my final image into and then I print from that. Mark Dryer has an excellent tutorial called Label Prep for Casting that should answer most of your questions about both software and dpi. For the most part I follow his step-by-step procedure to get things ready even though I use MS Publisher instead of MS Word like Mark does. I do however, use Photoshop Elements like Mark does, because I already had it on my computer. - Dave

For me, 300 dpi has been more than enough for the label size we are printing. Any more than that hasn't been noticeable.

Have you looked at Paint.net? Pretty easy to learn. I used it when I used windows but since I switched to linux I've had to go a different route.
