That would be all it would be good for.. The problem with it is the base is hollow.. When you go to tighten it up the whole thing bends within itself. I bought one.. The motor went bad within 2 weeks.. I took it back.. Same thing happened to that one and the next one.. Finally the fourth one lasted. But I could never get anything tight on the chuck. I sold it for $75.00 on craigslist. I warned the guy about it that bought it from me.. Two weeks after I sold it to him I saw it on craigslist again for the same price. I bought the stand with it.. It is not bad for the price.. I put a couple 2x4's accross it and it works great for a stand for my Delta..LOL

Dan,
You're assessment shows it's not even useful for finishing. Thanks for the warning. I couldn't tell it was on a hollow base from the pics.

LOML bought me this lathe for Christmas 5 years ago. I sold it less than a year later for $60 b/c I couldn't turn anything I wanted to turn on it. The ways are thin guage steel tube (square) and as mentioned, they flex terribly. And it's too big for a paperweight. Worse, it's too light to make a good trotline weight.
