I needed a couple of Stratus pens to replace those sold so I splurged on pretty wood. Diagonally cut bocote and snakewood fit the bill. Add premium refills and they are ready to sell.

Made with 4 coats of thin followed by 12 of Instabond Pen Finish.

Those are are very pretty wood pens.

Snakewood is tricky unpredictable stuff. Hope it holds for you.

With a Sierra that has super thin wall I agree; the Stratus might be three times thicker. I did chamfer the brass tube, file the inside of the brass tube and lubricate the pressed parts just to be sure.

Terrific Pens, Mark.
Spectacular Blanks, Beautifully Turned and Finished.
I am Impressed with using Snakewood, considering it's Reputation.
I know that these Pens are for Sale, but I would like to see the Snakewood, stay on sale for a while, just in case it lives up to it's reputation.
Better if Anything happens, that it isn't in a Customers hands.
Great Work, Mark.
Congratulations,
Brian.

Brian,

I must be feeling daring lately since I not only used snakewood for the Stratus but made two Sierras. A small part of me would like to see an Attax in snakewood too. I worked very hard to chamfer the brass on the end to be pressed. Add to that substantial filing of the inside the brass tube before pressing. A light coat of water just as I started pressing the finial in the lathe may have done the trick. The resultant pen looks super and has no issues yet.

Time will tell! I have usually had a failure immediately when assembling the pen in the past, not weeks later. There must be 8 pens out there that have yet to be returned. Believe me any pen made of snakewood has a lifetime exchange policy as long as the pick a different wood. People drop stuff, but this wood is enticing but can be problematic. Thanks for your cautionary response.
