Hi everyone, i thought I would post a few pictures of a bowl that I made a few days ago. I came across a very nice piece of premium curly Koa and I have to say that it is incredible looking. I wish the pictures would do it justice but I guarantee it looks better in person. Aloha.

Excellent work and an exceptional piece of wood. It's rare to find Koa blanks with such a beautiful grain but when you do, it is awesome.

Very nice grain and color. What finish?
I recall a fellow from Hawai'i who turned calabashes from native wood. May have been on another forum.

I lived on various of the Hawaiian Islands over a period of 40 years, including Big Island. During that time, I worked with some of the nicest Curly Koa that exists. Just as you are able to do. Nice bowl, nice wood. It is almost impossible to capture the full beauty of that incredible wood in a photo.
