Precision Drill chuck .002 runout

I was rummaging through Ebay this morning and ran across this Drill chuck.
The seller is the company I bought my Lathe from. If you look through his other items he has it in MT3 and mt4 as well as R-8

I have several 1/2 drill chucks but need the larger capacity. If the stated run out is accurate Im going to be very happy. I also was intrigued by the keyless feature yet it has a spanner wrench to aid in tightening and loosening it if needed.
I realize a lot of you dont need the accuracy or repeatability of a chuck like this but its always great to have it. Its something you may want to consider adding to your tool box.
THey also sell some nice threading, boring and indexable cutting sets.

When I first started researching Jacob CHucks years ago I wondered why some tools like the power hand drills at lowes/Hove Depot/etc. had Jacob chucks on them and cost less than buying a precision Jacobs chuck alone. Besides volume purchasing I found that some chucks were only rated to .025. some were .010 and some were .004. for repeatability. I found that you had to pay particular attention to the Model numbers for the specs. I work 4 digits past the decimal on my lathe and the accurate my tools the better the results. Its probably overkill for most members but its nice to know its there.
 
I received the new chuck last week but finally got around to posting pictures
It is large which is to be expected for a chuck that will do 0-5/8 drill bits.
I didnt realize when I bought it that it would do drill bits smaller than 1/8.
The first picture shows the new chuck in the lathe tailstock, a Jacobs 33b chuck and a Jacobs 14N chuck with a 1/2 straight shaft, behind that one. The 33b will do 3/32 to 1/2 and the 14N will go from 0 to 1/2
The chuck seems very well made. It turns smoothly no slop or anything that would seem to be poor fit or coarsely fit parts.

I havent had an opportunity to drill anything yet today but Im pretty sure its going to work like you would expect it too. I will post if it doesnt.

As you can see in the last photo the chuck is about 3 1/2 long

Those are really nice pictures. Did you get a new camera?

I wonder if he sells the long nose low profile live centers? Grizzly has them for $78.00 :redface:

Chuck, I actually have a cell phone again and the pictures were taken with it. Interesting that in order to post them in the correct position I had to rotate them 90 degrees save them, rotate them back to the original position, save them again and then they would post to the forum in the correct orientation.
