hi guys the prayers are for my little 14 year old dashhound. named skipper he wennt for his yearly check up about 2 weeks ago and they said he had a real bad heart murmor. so about 3 days later he went back becuase he was having a hard time beathing and the vet told me to give him a baby asprin every day and that should help it did for a few days and then he started to gain alot of weight at least at first that was what i thought it was but fri night he seemed to get worse so i took him to the e- vet in vass about a hour drive from home and they told he he had fluid building up in is stomach. so after bllod work and x-rays they decided to drain the fluid from his belly because the right side of his heart was barely working and gave him some meds for fluid and his heart. he seemed to pick back up over the weekend but got back down monday he had a follow up app that day and the vet told me that he was in serve heart failure and there was nothing they could do except keep the meds going and keep him as calm as much as possible. i know that he would not be around for ever but he has been a part of my life for 13 years and i dont want to loose him but i dont want him to suffer either. so hopefully the meds will kick in and he will feel alot better than he does . he seemed to feel better this morning when i took him out he wanted to stay outside alot longer than he has in a few days so finger crossed that the meds are working. thanks for lending me ear to cry in

Sorry to hear that your loved friend Skipper, is not doing to well...!

Our pets are very special creatures and while, we keep saying that, we know they won't live forever, nothing does and we never seem to accept well the inevitable so, at 14 years of age, he have given you everything he had, enjoy every moment you have with him, and love him the same way you ever did, they know who their master is, and they also want to enjoy every moment with those that took care of him all these years so, he is holding on lets hope he improves and that he doesn't have to suffer much more of the vet visits, they are never fun...!

Best of luck...!

Cheers
George
