Pratchett Goonies

This is a British kit called Pratchett, from Turners Warehouse. It's a stainless click. The blank is Goonies House wood, also from TW. Third times the charm! The blanks blew up during my first two attempts. But I took extra precautions with this one. Used a negative rake cutter, flooded it with thin CA several times, and used super strong T-88 epoxy. It was worth the effort! I made this for my son, who loved the Goonies movie when he was a kid. I hope he appreciates it!

The wood came with a certificate of authenticity. Nice touch.

It uses the Schmidt SKM88 click mechanism. The threads for the tip and clip end are different. I assembled it wrong at first. I forgot to put the coupler through the clip. In my defense, there are no instructions.

Congratulations ! Knew you would get there . I`ve always liked those angled grain presentations . Certainly a different looking set of components . Curious , what is the minimum diameter of the nib section ?

I guess you had to dis-assemble to retrofit the clip . . . hence the hammer, eh ? ! ! ! . . I like the way you document everything !

The smallest OD of the nib is about 0.302".

Yes, I had to get the finial "coupler" out to put it through the clip. I used the hammer with a transfer punch. I don't know why both were coming loose. I wore a "grippy" glove to hold onto the body as I banged on the punch with the hammer.

the Prachett is a really nice pen, it fills great writing with it and really a eye catcher, now the down falls, its just over 5" long, the parts need thread lock otherwise come loose, and the clip needs to be bent in or theres a gap, i like it better than the athena 88, it also it 5" long and has no instructions, the clip is like the devin and first athena the clip is connected, i like Chad, but he needs to get instruction on the pen kits he sells

I didn't notice the gap in the clip, but you're right. I doubt, though, if my son will be carrying the pen. He'll probably display it with the Goonies certificate of authenticity. I have another Pratchett kit, I'll try to remember to bend the clip on that one.

Very cool!! Love the grain
