Hi All,
Spent most of the day assembling a new Powermatic 14" bandsaw. It has all the bells and whistles. I have not installed the riser block yet. Was able to sell my of Delta/Rockwell. I bought the D/R 41 years ago. I hope the Powermatic will last half as long.

Ben

I have the same saw. Bought off Craiglist for half price. If you are going to resaw with it a taller rip fence comes in handy. I made mine out of Aluminum plate the UHMW plastic bonded to one side. Makes for a slick setup. Once set up the saw is very nice and cuts anything you could ever want.

The complaint that I had was that with the lift blocks installed the saw dust was not well contained. I altered the saw with two simple tricks. On the cutting side I took a paper tube from a paper towel and enclosed the blade where it is held in the carter blocks. Keeps the saw dust off the work and it gets sucked back into the top enclosure. On the opposite side I took a 2 1/2" flex. tube from my dust collector and split it about ten inches. Used that part to cover the open tract the blade runs in and attached the non split end to a dust collector system. It was amazing how much saw dust this collects. The bottom 4" port does not get it all. I think the problem is in part that not too much air can get into the lower area to create a good flow of saw dust and air. By collecting it again almost all get picked up before it goes everywhere.
