Has anyone tried powdercoating any pen kit parts?? If so what were your steps??? Did you have to strip them somehow??? Or could you powdercoat right over them after wiping down with acetone??? Still mulling ideas over on this tactile black pen.

I've done that. I had some sterling silver pen parts. I used clear powder to prevent them from tarnishing.

I just took the parts right from their bag to the wire I suspended them on. I did give them a quick wipe down with acetone prior to applying the powder. But that is all I did.

John,

I scuff all surfaces with sandpaper first, then wipe down with dna. I've been doing this sucessfully with cheap slimline platings and it has worked well. I've done a few cigars, aero's, and 1 atrax.....all in chrome or gold plating. After scuffing I hang with wire or stand on bolts. I havent had one peel or chip yet.
