I'm just starting to explore how to powder coat brass cartridges.

Have found a lot of good information posted to this forum - thanks.

It appears that the brass tube is inserted and glued into the cartridge before powder coating.

Is there something special in the gluing process to prevent the glue from dissolving in the baking process ?

Thanks

I have not yet PC'ed any cartridges but I do not think you want to glue in the tubes and or bushings for the tubes until after baking. The temps will breakdown virtually any glue you would use.

I use a 25-06 shell and solder the tube at the primer end. I drill the bullet so I don't need the tube to go all the way through for a nib.

One more thing,If you leave it in the oven too long everything will turn green! I use the clear from Columbia Coatings at 375 degrees for only 8 minutes. The directions say 15 to 18 min. at 400 but when I tried that it turned green. I talked to Brian at Columbia Coatings and he suggested the above formula. Works great every time!

Rick - thank you

This is my first try with a casing pen - pretty basic - all casing without a bullet nib.

Still not clear if I can glue the brass tube into the brass casing before the baking process.

I looked at your photo's - great pen - hope I can eventually try something like that.

Thanks again

Gordon
