Been on a bit of a casting spree… it's addicting.
I have mostly been pouring spirals lately, and continuously refining the process. (The ones that have diagonal stripes are spiral pours, but some pigments will stick to the tube and create this pattern on the outside. You can see the internal spiral more clearly in casts that use more dye and/or pigment pastes, than the ones that are mostly mica)
I still throw some acanthus patterns in here and there, but mostly holding off on this until I get my new molds set up, which I think will work better for that variation. I also have been working on my segmented true spiral blanks, and have another batch of these coming up soon based on a few of the colorways in this post.
I've also had the pleasure of seeing some of these turned into pens by other makers, which are reposted on my Instagram page if the maker uses social media. I'm not sure the etiquette of posting pics of other people's pens make from my materials, so I haven't posted any of these, but I have seen a couple. That said, if you have previously bought any of my blanks and turned them, please send me a picture if you can! Would love to see!
Just picked up a second pressure pot to be able to increase my efficiency, and will be focusing on turning pens also the next couple months as I recently got news that my application to the Chicago Pen Show was accepted! Looking forward to a great 2026!
Thanks for looking!
