here is another open segmented bowl I just finished today. it pudok and maple about 5" high and 6" round.

very cool looking - how time consuming is that?

it took about three days couple hours a day. it's the glue time that takes all the time you have to let glue set up berore you can add another layer. (sorry for the miss spelling)

Those turnings always amaze me. Seems like they would fly apart on a spinning lathe with a tool cutting on them. There just doesn't look to be that mush surface area glued together.

Very nice job. I'd love to give that a try one of these days.
