Post LIKES - Yes or No??

For all the reasons that have already been expressed in favor of the 'Like' button, I voted to keep it. I do think, however, that it should be limited to the first post in forums such as SOYP or Other Things We make.

I often see the like button used most effectively on later posts, especially if someone is asking how to do something. I can gauge how widely people use or agree with different answers by how many people like the later posts.

For example, when someone asks how do I... and three posts down there is an answer with 10 likes I know that's the generally accepted way.

I think that it works quite well,if the like choice is causing people to step back from posting than what will 10 pages of replies do?
There are pens that I "like" that I have seen done several times, and there are pens that to simply like would be an unjust brush off.
And in all honesty there have been several times where I have more interested in the likes than in the replies because a like from certain pen makers carries more weight than a reply from others who reply just to reply (and please I'm not trying to be rude)
An option would to have the posting after a certain number of reply's and/or likes automatically slip into another forum where it could be discussed as a stand alone thread

I like it & agree with Skippy. Personally I use 'like' when I really don't have a constructive comment to add.
I don't think I've ever posted '+1' & 'I like it', isn't really of much use to the OP, & imo a "like" gives the OP the same information.
I can see your dilemma however, but fwiw I voted "keep it"
