I'm one of those people that do not have a large shop to work in (i.e. cramped into part of my garage) and I also somtimes need to have a bench for projects away from the house. I found myself with a mitersaw stand that I wasn't using so I thought I'd put it to good use. The birch plywood top locks in place with T-slot screws that were part of the stand. I added T-Slots and clamps as well as a tape measure in a slot routed in the surface. The bench folds down for easy transportation or storage yet provides a very stable work surface
The Zyliss vise completed the bench and is the most versitile bench vise I've ever found. In fact, I bought a second one for $30 on ebay and it is the best pen press I've ever used. It is easy to control and makes it effortless to press pens. I added the wooden jaw covers to protect the pens when I press them. Just thought I'd share the idea about the Zyliss Vise as a great pen press.
