Besides the fact that it will take a long time to fully cure , poly is very soft even after it is dry to the touch , it takes a long time to fully cure (weeks+) , if you are polishing the brass it will peal off pretty quick . First scratch and that will be the end of the finish . Lacquer works best but won't last very long either once it has a scratch in it . Powder coat will last the longest but even that won't last forever on polished metal .

I tried the WOP and it flaked off in less than three days of use. I've had limited success with a CA coating. My biggest problem is the CA collecting in the ring near the head stamp. (hope that's the right terminology)

I give any customers who buy one of my metal pens a small baggie of "Nevr-dull" metal polish wadding , about a 2 months supply .
That's a good idea.

I carry a wad to every show, just to keep fingerprints and other tarnish to a minimum..
