How long does it take for poly resin castings to stop smelling like death? I made some denim micarta last night to use for pen blanks, turned out pretty good other than the smell of burning packing peanuts and solvent that PR is known for. My first time making anything out of resin. Just bought a HF pressure pot and getting set up for pressure casting. Looking forward to figuring this resin business out!

FWIW I let my poly blanks sit for at least 1-2 weeks just to make sure they're fully cured. The smell goes away by then - until you start turning.

I use polyester resin to cast snake skin blanks. Once the resin cures the smell goes away. Happy casting.
Do a good turn daily!

Good to know, thanks! I used the least amount of hardener that the container called for, to give myself the most open time possible, so I figured it'd take a while to fully cure. I'll wait until it doesn't stink any more.
