I have a question. I did my second attempt at a poly finish, and in all likelihood I am going to go back to CA. Just wondering though, it seems like the finish has little dimples in it. Does anyone know the cause of that? Thanks.

Is it open grain and the poly getting into it? It usually is the 4th coat or so before it gets on smooth.

It was open grain, but I have had this problem with other woods. I put on 5 decent coats. Maybe I should seal with CA before I start...

Maybe your coats are too heavy? also are you using wipe on Poly or the brush on kind?

It is wipe-on poly. The fast-drying kind. I just tried some CA today and it appears I have it down. I might revisit poly sometime in the future though.

I believe wipe on is very thin and may be your problem. I use fast drying but is the regular stuff. There is a tutorial in the library and I use the same stuff and similar method of applying a very small amount using a very small piece of paper towel.
