All the bits arrived today to let me use the big mustard beast. The result is a couple of firsts for me: my first item turned on the PM, my first bell ornament, my first "funnel" that came from the first attempt at a handle.

This is purpleheart with ebony handle. One thin coat of CA as a "sanding sealer" followed by one coat of gloss rattle-can lacquer.

Only stinkin mustard I have is in the frig. <sig> Nice Bell, Greg and thanks for causing one more covetous desire!:biggrin:

It's a great looking bell Greg. Is that so your wife can call you in for dinner? I like the finish..what did you finish it with?

One coat of thin CA to seal it all up followed by one coat of gloss lacquer. I could use more lacquer but I was ready to call it done and go to bed.

what - no pictures of the hardware - oh well - no tool porn to see.

Good design on the bell, love the flow of the handle.

Here's the HW for you:

This from my whiney post about having the PM3520 set up but no attachments so I couldn't turn anything on it and had to use my 1014 while the PM sat idle.

Thanks for the complement on the flow of the handle. I'd like to take credit for it but it was all pure luck as I tried to keep the cracked ebony from blowing apart.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. It was a fun and challenging project! I really need to learn to sharpen my spindle gouges!

personally I just like the "tool Holding" device sitting on the floor.:wink:

Hey Now, be nice. That is really very high tech. Each tool has its own cut-to-length PVC sleeve (including shape warping and adapter rings to make it so the ferrule is in the sleeve for smaller tools) and then all the sleeves are Gorilla Tape'd into the bucket in a sorted-cy-type arrangement.

Protects the tools while letting them be as mobile as the Jet lathe.
