Has anyone experimented with Plexiglass over a friction polish? I have been thinking about this and wonder if it would be an excercise in futility or not. I suspect there might be a problem with the plexi remaining clear if the friction polish contained wax but what about using a dewaxed shellac for the polishing as last step before applying the plexi. Any ideas along these lines?

Sand/polish the wood to 12000 MM first. That should be all the shine you need.

Problem with friction polish is it's mostly wax so your plexi probably wouldn't stick for very long and start flaking off. That's my guess, anyway :)

I would do as Blindsquirrel suggested or if I am looking for depth and shine I use Danish oil then make sure I buff with a rag until it is dry and shiny.
