My sis. Inlaws is 17 wks till her due date and they are gonna have to take the baby today. Not enough blood getting to him. Because he is not yet 24 wks his survival rate is not good. Please pray that he can pull through this.

Chris, there a some great people at the Self NICU. One of them goes to our church. Her name is Jennifer. You will have our prayers, but also know you are in highly qualified hands and Mom and baby will receive the best care possible.
 
While every week in the womb is better for the baby, neonatal care has progressed incredibly over the last thirty years. NICU can support the baby until the organs can fully develop. It will be a long stay in the NICU and very stressful, but babys are born before 24 weeks and with supportive care mature to full term in the hospital and then go home fully healthy. Good luck to your family and stay strong. Hope all goes well.
 
Thanks everyone for praying, little nephew was born weighing 1 lb 1 oz. He is doing okay right now, but please keep praying. His name is Malachi.

We went through this with our 5 year old. He weighed a little over a pound, but the doctors & NICU were perfectly trained & equipped to handle everything. We'll continue to pray!
 
Chris, we save babies like this all the time. No promises or guarantee's...but hope. NICU folks take these babies very seriously...very! Girl or boy, there is hope

Let me second this.

My son was born 12 weeks premature and because he was born so early and it was found that he had a kidney tumor he was not expected to survive the night. Well he survived that night and then the week and he survived the surgery to remove the tumor before he was 30 days old. By the way, he'll turn 23 this September. It will be a stressful time for the family but trust in your faith that the creator will do what is best.

Prayers lifted for Malachi. My granddaughter was born almost 3 months early 19 years ago and doing fine today other than some hearing problems that showed up when she was about 12. With medical advances since then he should do well.
 
here is a pic of my nephew. He done well on his blood transfusion. The bag that you see over him is there to help protect his skin. Mom and dad can only touch him through the bag. cannot have physical contact. The skin is too fragile

Glad he is here and glad y'all made it home ok. Call me when you are in town again, or at least give me a heads up. Maybe we can grab a bite or something.
 
will do, I know we will be making more trips as he is going to be there for several months. maybe we can work in a turn day to releive some stress

You just have to put the little fella in Gods hands and he will do what he thinks is right for everyone.
