I just turned a Berea TG Euro fountain pen for my wife. The barrels are beautiful, with the best CA finish I have done to date. I assembled the pen partway and got hung up. Tried to call Berea but no answer...maybe after hours for them.
Here's my question...and I'm hoping someone else has done this pen and
can help me. The lower barrel has two "reducers"--that's what they
call the one nearest the centerband but the one closest to the nib is
called...I don't know, the "nib reciever" or some such. The
instructions specifically say that they are "identical."
In any case, both are threaded internally. This works fine for the
nib, it screws in. But the "post" is supposed to be *pressed* into the
"reducer" on the other end. Trouble is, there's threads in there and
the post doesn't want to go in. I tried and backed off for fear of
breaking something. The post won't start straight (because of the
threads) and even if you persist, it just won't go with normal pen
press pressure.
Help!! What am I doing wrong? Is there a solution?
