I saw recently on a website a grading of different plating durability. The scale was from 1 to 5.

However, I can't recall the website and haven't bookmarked it (else I wouldn't be asking it here no? ;) )

I've gone through a few pen kits website but with no luck.

Anyone knows where I saw this?

Most of the major suppliers provide some explanation of platings. All you need to know for gold is 'titanium' and sivler (color) 'rhodium'. The rest wear, sometimes quickly, and are not as desirable.

The best platings in my experience, as stated above are

Rhodium/Platinum
titanium gold
black titanium (which seems to be the most durable of the whole lot IMO)
chrome (almost as durable as rhodium, looks great, and often half the price).
