Hi Folks,
Anyone know where I can get some pistachio wood? I'm looking for pistacia vera, the tree that the nuts come from, not Chinese pistachio. I'd like to make something for my wife. She had never had pistachios before we met 14 years ago. I'm interested in any size (though shipping a log might be a problem ).

Thanks,

Martin.

I've got two blanks here in front of me. 1" X 1" X 7" both. Unfortunately, I cannot get you a picture of them, my camera died and now I'm looking for a new one. You don't happen to have a good quality digital camera with close-up lenses now do you?
Got anything to trade for these two blanks?

I have some Pistachio blanks from California at home - I presume they are from pistachio nut trees. If you are still looking for some this evening, let me know & I will measure them & shoot some photos for you.

So, I see we have a Pecan farmer among us.....

Never seen Pecan wood, would love to see
a few pieces......

Pecan wood is beautiful - I have a big stack of logs in my tractor shed that I'll be cutting up this spring. Some spalted & some just nicely figured & should be some burl in there as well.

Here's a link to a previous thread about one log that I'm working on. That same tree has since lost another limb almost as large as this one. I have a lot more besides these.

I'll definitely be offering it up here for sale or trade.

Thanks Edgar, after going back the the other site, I do remember,
I will still be interested,

Thanks for showing

hi ed let me know when u have some pecan ready i would be interested in getting some i just used some of the wood u sent me in a trade a few months ago and it turned out very nice i will send u a pic of the pens when i get a chance

I have some Pistachio in a variety of sizes and colors. Picked it up from Warren Wise (The Woodsman) when he was having his going-out-of-business sale. How big of a piece do you want/need?

I can't guarantee which Pistachio it came from but given Warren's location, I would it expect it came from local orchards.

Colors and grain vary considerably. I've turned a few things from it and I'm always impressed by how much the color changes when I hit it with Boiled Linseed Oil. Prior to the oil, it's often a bland grey color but after oiling, it's a nice, dark, normal wood color/figure.

I should have pieces that are larger than just pen blanks if you're looking to do something bigger for your wife.
