Here is my first, and quite possibly my last piece from pine. This is a pine root ball I started turning months ago, and just finished tonight. I soaked it in BLO for about 2 hours, and it seemed to come out okay. I had a heck of a time getting all the clay and rocks out of it, to keep my tools from getting ruined.

Very attractive color and figure.

Now personally the voids are screaming for some turquiose inlace. But that's just me. The bowl looks great even without it to me.

Hopefully your shop smells pine-fresh now.

I have some x-tra nice heart pine pen blanks I can't wait to tear into. I love the smell.

That doesn't look like pine at all. The curls and inclusion made it really interesting.

Definitely worth the effort. Very nice!!! [^]

Good lord yes it smells like pine. It's a pain to sand, too. I have to keep running the sander on gum to clean it up.
Now my shop smells like Pine, Santos Mahogany, and white oak. These are the three woods I've been working with the last few days.
