I am going to buy some sugar pinecones. And was wondering how big they have to be to get the core at the base to be big aronud and long enough to get seirras or aeros from. I found some cheap on line but they are 12in long. Anybody deal in these? Thanks. Rich

I think those are the ones. You need to just trim all the leaves off so you can get it into a good drilling position. I sent you a few cast ones that will likely show up tomorrow, you can drill those anywhere you want, but they are not the 12" cones. Work off the ends and use the center as your scrap with my cones.

We are staying in Big Pines, Ca. The pine cones laying around the cabin are the best in form and length I have ever seen. Yes, I have seen some a foot long but these 8" 'rs have a thick core. I have not drilled one yet but am filling up a big bag full to take with me. If you would like me to take pictures of some so that you can see them, let me know.

0Hey Jeff was at a show when I posted the question from my phone. Just got home and seen the replys.
I got the box yesterday. They look great. Willl try a couple this week.
I had gotten a couple off a guy on a different site. They were already trimed so I really dont know how long the cone was to start with. I found some at $1 each if i order 25. They are 12-18 ins long. If the core at the bottom is thick and long enough thats what I am looking for. I made areos and they sold really well.
John do you think that once you cut the flaps off that the core will be big enough on the 8" ones you have? Let me know what you think. I need to get these rolling. I have a 3 week break them shows start again.
Thanks
Rich H.
