Pin clip and Barrel

Has anyone tried to scuff sand and repaint a gold plated pin clip and barrel? Thought I'd ask before I wasted one..... Thanks

Why? Can't get a painted one in the color you like? Or has all the finish worn off the one you want to paint?

I'm doing an SEC football pen and I can't find a clip in crimson color so I just though I'd paint a clip and barrel with my air brush.

Yes....kind of. I've done it with urushi and later sprinkled with gold powders. Despite the different media ..prep is pretty much universally the same.
