Looking for an easy photo program to upload photos to so I can post on forums. I use to use Picture It but no longer available. Any easy recommendations? Not looking for drawing with just want to share photos and size them and sharpen if need be. Snapseed was recommended. Is this good and if so do you have a direct link that is not virus corrupted? Any others out there and if so a usable link would be nice. Thanks.

I directly download my photos to File Explorer on my laptop. It's the little icon at the bottom that looks like a file folder in a rack. Dropbox now charges so I scratched them off the list. I can make different files for different topics.

Are you taking pictures with your phone or with a dedicated camera? And are you using a windows computer or a Mac?

I can't help you if you are using a Mac.

An Android phone is most likely already hooked up to your Google account and can be set to automatically upload your picture to Google Photos.

Through Google photos you can easily edit pictures within Google Photos, download them to your computer and then upload them to whatever site you want.

It is a little more complicated if you are using an actual camera! But you would download from your camera to your computer and then you can upload to Google Photos, edit the picture, download to your computer and them upload where ever you want. (that is essentially using Google Photos as your photo editing software - it is free with quite a bit of storage, but if you have a lot of photos uploaded you may need to purchase additional space - about $20 a year)

Am using a dedicated camera. Have a windows 10 desk top computer and some time in the near future I will have camera capabilities but not right now. I would always use a flashdrive to load my photos to computer and stick them in Picture it and resize and then send to a dedicated file to be used on many sites.

I'll bet you can get an older version like adobe photoshop elements 10 off ebay for about $20. I do the same as you. Take my sd card out of my camera, move them to a folder on my win10 pc. You can do a lot with the photoshop 10 version. I still use it all the time. $20 ain't bad anymore for what it still can do with pictures.

I still have all those discs if I want. Really do not do anything more than load and store and post here and a couple other sites. need to be able to size them though. I have seen way too many photos lately here that are huge. people just do not take the time to resize and this forum does not do it automatically. if I have to scroll a photo I do not look at many. It is annoying. But we are in the point a phone and shoot and press a few buttons and it is loaded to forum. Hands and all. Do not get me started on that fiasco again. o_O

I use Snapseed for quick and easy editing. I really like it. I would think the Apple Store or Google Play would be safe. Snapseed is a Google product.

Do a good turn daily!

IrfanView works well - but if all you want to do is down-size the image (no actual editing), Microsoft have an extension to the File Explorer program which lets you right-click on a JPEG (you don't even have to open it) and pick a new size from a menu.

It's hard to find anything that's easier to use that this "power toy".

Reviewed the posts and need to add to mine. I insert the memory card into a slot in my laptop and follow the yellow brick road. Downloads easy...all I have to do is direct the photos to a specific file or make a file before downloading. I'm using a Canon T7 camera, BTW.

Since this thread started up, allow me to add my requirements, which may be suitable for JT as well:

I am looking for free photo organizing or cataloguing application that does the following:
  • Open a folder with many photos and display thumbnail views of the photos in the window, like in a grid pattern.
  • Double-click on a thumbnail photo to see the full size view on the screen. Click an button or a key on the keyboard to see the next or previous photo in the folder in full size.
  • Select a few non-contiguous photos from the thumbnail grid and export copies of them to a new folder as low resolution files. It should be one step not one-by-one. The low resolution copies will be suitable for uploading to websites or sending as email.
    • Unlike JT's request, I can upload the low resolution files myself separately. I do not need the application to do that.
  • The application must runs on Mac and Linux at least. Most free software does anyway.
That's it. By "free" I mean "free or open source". If you are using a program like that and like it, I would appreciate your recommendations.
