I was thumbing through CSUSA's catalog today, and I saw Pentacryl. Isn't that what Darick said he and his dad use for the snakewood? Does anyone use Pentacryl for drying? What are the pros? Cons?

Pentacryl has been long used to stabilize reclaimed woods. If memory serves me right a lot of museums use it on wood that are dug up or dredged from underwater (Viking ships for example).

Yep, it is also what Darick mentioned as the secret ingredient to stabilize their snakewood.

I have used polycryl followed by pentacryl. I have had no problems with my blanks. I soak the blanks in the polycryl and then pentacryl. I have wondered if it would work even better if it was put under a vacuum. Pentacryl is fairly expensive though (at least in Canada).
