This American black walnut "Cube" fishing tackle box needed to get finished and head out.
Now back to those Saturns and Bolts.

Always admire your boxes Mark. I'm sure you've answered this before--but i'm curious about your joinery of the front and back panels. I have to believe it's more than a simple butt joint. Thanks!!

Those are called box joints. I use a <$100 jig from Rockler and spiral carbide router bits. They are a $&&@ to glue up but after that they are rock solid and pretty. I have a new, expensive jig to do the same thing and more but it sits in my shop starring at me.

Thanks Mark. Yep, 4 sides with box joints--and meticulous grain matching!! Real question is the attachments of the two sides that don't appear to be box joints--the sides where the hinge and clasp are mounted. Those look like they're just butt joint glued--any dowels or splines buried in those? (and i fully agree--as box joints are, they can be a bear. I use the Incra box cutting jig, and it really helps in dialing in the fingers which helps some on the glue-up)

The front and back are joined long grain to long grain. Titebond 3 glue and a dozen clamps keeps them there.

Holy smoke Mark!! Just lifting that many parallel clamps is a work-out. The end result is always excellent, and one of these days i'll get back to making boxes for a bit. Appreciate your time to share.

I had to share your photos with my wife. She said..."beautiful". I concur. Really looking forward to your next project.
