Yea, that's some pretty serious business for such a limited product range...

I was also intrigued by the use of Kickstarter for fundraising....
 
If memory serves me (which at my age sometimes it won't) Shawn Newton ...Watchart use kick starter for funding on his pens for kids program.
 
Yes he did. A few people have used Kick Starter for pen ventures. Out of the ones I saw, I have a higher respect for Shawn's project than the others. His is more about a greater purpose than making money.
 
My sweet wife was right and I agree Shawn's was for a much greater purpose than making $$$. He was using it to get kids started using fountain pens.
 
I read about the Allegory people a while back. He's just making the same pens we can, with the same wood we can get from a handful of vendors here. He just has superior marketing skills, apparently.

That said, I've thought about kickstarter, too.
 
Doesn't say how many pens he sold to make 750K, but most of the pens on his web site are listed at under $100. At $100 per pen, he would have to make 20-21 pens per day to do that much in sales.
