I received an email with info about a kit to build a Gerstner tool chest. This could be a good way to get a pen storage chest.

You are correct. And a lot of discussion mentions the poor quality.

Here's an opportunity for someone to say "I built this.".

And also control the quality to some degree.

Thanx for the link Rick. It looks a lot like a sewing cabinet I just finished for the wife person. Still have lots of stock left over so may have one of these in my future.

I agree with the comments about the HF version. Way overpriced junk.

I have one like these 2 Gerstner tool chests on ebay, in black, for $51 & $56. Mine was my dads he first bought in the 1930's. Its still in good condition, except for the black covering.

I mention this to suggest the solidness of the old chests. They were built like tanks.
